GINGER DICKSON
Ginger Dickson began an interest in art at an early age, and was always drawing, painting and experimenting with a variety of mediums. Her glass career began in 1989 with a hands-on workshop in glass blowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, Washington. She continued to take classes with glass masters from Pratt and Pilchuk, as well as teaching and working at various Northwest glass studios, developing her own techniques of figurative work in glass. Ginger's work is characterized by swirls and layers of color, with a variety of animal, spirit forms and figures glowing through, allowing the optical effects of light from the inside of her vessels to transform the figures into ethereal, alien or ancient "future" cave painting effect. The work draws on the myth, magic and archeology to incorporate a spirit essence in the changing colors and forms. She prefers not to title her works, but to instead allow the viewer to enjoy their own interpretations.
